Original Prints
"Original prints" have been around for a thousand years, only the technology has changed. The first prints were made by carving a design in a block of wood, spreading ink over the design and pressing the ink charged block on to a piece of paper.
Over the centuries artists have taken advantage of technological advances to make multiple prints from a single design carved in wood, metal or stone. With "original prints" there is no "original" piece of art that is reproduced. There is only the "matrix" of wood, metal, or stone.
My matrix of choice is digital. I start with an original drawing. The drawing is scanned into a computer and "painted" digitally in much the same way as I would paint with oil, acrylic, or tempera, but in this case I am painting with pixels of light. The final product is a digital matrix from which multiple original prints may be produced.
